Drawings 10/11

WHERE: Kunsthuis Verse Vis , Minrebroederstraat 8. Utrecht
WHAT: Solo expositie: `Sociometry` (tekeningen 2010-2011)

Statement
Life is an absurd, art is a medicine (Sociometry) / drawings 2010/2011
>Contemporary cacophony of controversial moral views leave a little space for calm and structural evaluation.
We are bombarded by sound and picture bites like a tourist in a jungle.
Our only mental survival weapon against media-invasion is our pattern recognition ability and comfort ofbeing able to relate economy to meteorology or demography to bacteriology. Juxtaposed themes in my drawings represent paradoxes that train our ability to make quick decisionsand hence recognize hidden dangers. While being visually sweet, I actually protest in a funny manner, like Isabella Rosellini would do. One way of possesing good manners is to insult in apparently harmless, charming way while at the same time raising very serious political and sociological questions. The common thread is visually saturating invitation for contemplation about more fundamental questions of current day issues. Even if I can not suggest a solutionat least I have to put up a question.

David Copperfield, The (a.ka. The Houdini) - Drill her from behind. Before  you shoot your wad, fake it and spit on her back. When she turns around to give you that loving smile and hug, cum in her face. So, it's kind of like an illusion.a sleight of hand...misdirection

Thought of Marcus Aurelius :
"The Fortress of the Mind – your mind is invincible when it draws into itself and calmly refuses to act against its will.
The mind freed from passion is a fortress in which to retreat.
Your inner truth is to be true to yourself. "

Originally, Flintstones were used in Winston cigarette brand commercials. As most people develop emotional relation with even cartoon characters due to being hypnotized by the media, it becomes easy to attribute sexuality to imaginary beings.
